My ABC Wednesday theme: The Mama and Her Authentic Green Thumbs. . .and Fingers |
Look in the background and you can see some clusters of buds of the avocado tree. If they all wake and do their thing, we're going to have a huge crop this year.
What else is new in the Mama's garden?
This past week, she planted long beans and some other kinds of beans, which I can't recall. She says that sometime soon she'll plant green beans. Yup. We like our fresh beans.

Seeds that the mama dropped into the soil a few weeks ago have popped up. These are parda plants. I have no idea what the English word is for parda. Not even sure if I'm spelling the Ilocano word correctly. It's a kind of bean that looks like a huge, slightly hair pea. The young ones taste good mixed in with sliced tomatoes and red onions. Yum.

Irises are such unassuming creatures. I've been watering them for weeks, wondering when they were going to start sprouting. Then, Pow! Without noticing them going through their in-between stages, these gals greeted me in full glory. They hang out with the pink rose bush, so I wonder if that may be why their color is slowly turning into soft pastel hues. Or, maybe the Mama planted a mix of white and purple irises.

The Mama's garden is springing right along.
Today is ABC Wednesday, a meme began by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt and now headed by Roger Green and his helpers. Click here to read posts around today's letter N.
If you've come from the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge, my M post is over here.
Fun post with beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was reading an A to Z challenge post, aha! Love Asian pears and the persimmons you gave me when we met were so yummy.

Ha! This could've been my "N" post if the ABCs had coincided. :-)
DeleteOh how wonderful and it must make your Mama proud of her accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely pleased when the things she plants pop up. She's outside right now planting bittermelon seeds in another part of the garden because the ones she sowed last month haven't done a thing. I tell her it's not time yet -- too cold. She's impatient that way.
DeleteYour Mama's garden bring so much joy to so many people,
ReplyDeletethanks to you showing we ABCW's pictures and telling us
all about her efforts, just NATURALLY amazing!
I do hope she gets a good crop of beans, I love green beans.
If I lived nearby I'd be knocking on the door.
Fingers crossed for a good crop of Asian Pears and Avocado,
which I love, I haven't tasted an Asian Pear,
but shall look out for them at our local greengrocers, who does
manage to stock unusual stuff in his shop!
best wishes
DI.
ABCW team.
And, she would be very happy to have you go out to her garden and pick as many as you want, Di. :-)
DeleteI reckon that when we witness Spring springing into life around us, it opens our hearts a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteToday is one of the first days here on Widder Island in a long time where the sky has been blue from horizon to horizon. Everything is so shiny it almost hurts the eyes to look
I like how you say that -- "opens our hearts a little bit more." I suppose scientists might say that it's all the plants popping up, transforming more carbon dioxide into oxygen then what was happening during the winter.
Deletenice. new life
